I’m Baaaaaaack!!! Announcing my Return from an Unintentional Hiatus

Hello Im Back GIFs | Tenor
A Terminator thing for the featured image and an Independence Day and spoiler alert for the post I’m currently writing, I’m also gonna reference the “Coming Back” scene from Spider-Man 2. Chaotic?! Oh yeah, but I don’t give a turd, I’m BACK!!!

Hey Everyone! So yeah, it’s been a while, six months in fact since I have last written for this blog. Nevertheless, I am back from my unintentional hiatus! And yes, your good little eyes (or big eyes, I dunno know) did notice that I mentioned that this hiatus was 1000% unintentional, because in case you couldn’t tell, I love writing for this blog and in this style! So that the raises the big question that is key to any fascinating story (ooooh, I love how I’m building the drama you guys!):

Wuh happen?! (Actually, this gif kinda fits the whole situation better than I thought)

Well, for as dramatic as I built it up to be, it’s actually VERY anti-climatic (like, insert 50 million movies here… had a blank there!): I basically just lost my mojo. Yeah, it really is that simple! I was just having a weirdly hard-time motivating myself to write the blog–which was especially strange given how it was a little after I graduated in a freaking pandemic so… yeah (pretty weird!)–so I *unintentionally* stopped writing for the blog. It’s not because I have lost the love of writing movie reviews, far from it! I suppose you could say like many, the pandemic drained me for a bit.

Again, just like in Spider-Man 2, I wasn’t fully sure on my direction for a bit. But now, I know that I need, no, I *want* to come back to writing review posts… hopefully I don’t screw up my back on my first go around πŸ˜‰

Obviously, I wasn’t drained dry of that energy to write for Spinning the Cineweb completely, which is why I am now fully recharged to write movie reviews again! Well, ok, I have actually been powered up for a bit, but then life just went “Oh, you wanna come back to the blog you Friendly Neighborhood Film Nerd?! How cute… you’ve got college now… have fun!” Yeah, around mid-to-late August I actually started film school (at Temple University in case anyone is interested). Long story short: even with all classes being online because *Insert “Screw 2020” Joke Here*, it has still been a lot of fun and actually having to watch movies for homework is the most awesome thing like, EVAH!!

But, with a new set of great responsibilities on my end comes… more great responsibilities?!?! …I kinda messed that analogy up real bad, although hopefully you get my point. Life has just been very busy over the last six months (wow, it’s already been a half of a year, whoda thunk?!) from all of my classes and everything else adulting entails–even if the semester is now over for me… yay! Obviously, the result is that it has been very hard to find the time to come back to the blog, so for anyone who read previously, sorry for the very long wait.

Well, as I have said for the millionth time in this post, that wait is over: I’m back baby!!! Hopefully as you’re reading this, there should be a review post up and running for everyone to read. Unfortunately, given everything I just said about life being so freaking busy (even with my semester now being over for the moment), I cannot promise a routine schedule for when I’ll be able to write reviews and other posts. Ideally, I would like to write one review every week that’s slated to come out on Saturdays–and if I can make idea a reality, I’ll be sure to let you now. For now, please look forward to my current review on Sound of Metal (perhaps an overdue review on The Trial of the Chicago 7 at some point) and more in the future.

With all that out of the way, I hope that everyone reading this has a great rest of your day, week, weekend–whatever! Please be safe, take care, and may the force be with you!!! And oh yeah (for any newcomers, get ready for some catchphrase time!), I think you should ALL know who I am at this point…

I’m Alex, Your Friendly Neighborhood Film Nerd!!! (God it felt good to say that again)
